To begin the learning process on the road you need to need to be at least 17 years old, be able to read the UK number plate of any car from a minimum distance of 20.5m and have a provisional driving licence by law.
You can apply for a licence up to 3 months before your 17th birthday, but cannot take lessons on the public highway, or sit a Theory Test until your birthday.
You can also get an application form at the Post Office, or apply online for a comprehensive pack containing everything you need. The cost of a provisional driving licence is currently £50 (January 2009), but increases from time-to-time. You will normally receive your licence in about 10 days.
You do not have to have your provisional licence to contact us. We can arrange things with you in readiness for when your licence arrives.
